The Bixby Program in Population and Reproductive Health was established in
2001 at the UCLA School of Public Health as the result of a generous gift from
the Fred H. Bixby Foundation. The purpose of the program is to expand the School's
research, training, and service activities in the areas of population, reproductive
health, and family planning. The principal focus of the program is on reproductive
health issues in developing countries, where population growth rates remain high
and reproductive health services are poor or inaccessible.
The school-wide
program is led by Dr. Paula Tavrow. It is administered by a Steering Committee,
chaired by Dr. Anne Pebley, which operates under the direction of Dean Linda Rosenstock.
The membership of the Steering Committee includes faculty from several different
departments in the School of Public Health and the Medical Center, all of whom
have research or teaching interests in reproductive health. This is not a degree
granting program.
